These terms of use, including any tutor/parent terms and conditions and our Privacy notice set out the terms of use governing your use of this website, www.expert-tutor.com. If you do not agree with these terms, please stop using the Website immediately.
These terms were last reviewed in January 2022.
Definitions
The following terminology applies to these Terms and Conditions, Privacy Statement and any or all Agreements created from time to time:
- “Tutor”, “Parent”, “Student” and “Visitor” refers to you, the user of this Website, in any capacity;
- “The Company”, “Expert Tutor”, “Ourselves”, “We” and “Us” refer to our Company;
- “Party”, “Parties” or “Us” refer to both you and the Company.
Any use of the above terminology or other words in the singular, plural, non-capital letters are considered interchangeable and therefore a reference to them.
About Us
We are Expert Tutor Group Ltd (“Company”), registered in the UK (Company Number SC685016).
We are a SaaS company, specialising in application software services for the purpose of providing all-in-one tutoring services to students. Expert Tutor match students with suitable Tutors so they may arrange tutoring lessons.

Site Access
Access to our Website only is free of charge.
Access is provided on an ‘as is’ and on an ‘as available’ basis.
We may suspend or discontinue our Website (or any part of it) at any time. We do not guarantee that our Website will always be available and free from error or interruption. If we take the decision to suspend access to the Website, we will make all attempts to provide you with reasonable notice of the suspension.
We may alter or update any part of our site at any time.
Our site is intended for use by students, parents and tutors within the United Kingdom. We do not warrant or represent that our Website or Service is suitable for use in other countries.
Changes to these Terms of Use
As explained above, your use of Our Site constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Consequently, any changes made to these Terms and Conditions will apply to your use of our Website the first time you use it after the changes have been implemented. You are therefore advised to check this page every time you use our Website.
Use of the Website
You must be over the age of 18 to register as a student or tutor, unless a parent or guardian consents for their child to receive tutoring lessons through the Expert Tutor service.
Expert Tutor grants you a fully revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited licence to access the Website and our Services as an end-user and as determined by these terms.
How we use data
We may use your different in the following means to deliver our service to you, depending on your relationship with us:
Where you are a student or parent/guardian of a student:
- To provide our tutoring service to our Students, including but not limited to: - Video Tutoring Lessons - Instant Messages ( in-appChat) - Achievements - Tasks - Lesson recordings (shared with students/parents only) - Resources (Offered by Tutor)Create and manage your Expert Tutor account
- Create and manage your Expert Tutor account
- Verify your account login and entitlement to our tutoring services within the Expert Tutor app (login authentication)
- Book lesson sessions in with desired/matched tutors
- Process your payment transactions
- Provide you with technical and customer support
- Provide you with service messages about our products and services, including app developments
- We may use session cookies to authenticate your account. For more information on the use of Cookies, please see our Cookie Policy below.
Where you are a Tutor:
- Match students to your specialist subject based on their lesson needs and experience
- To facilitate your application to become a tutor with us, including relevant checks confirming your right to work in the UK and any relevant DBS/Disclosure checks required.
- Generate an ‘hours coached’ figure based on time taught by you
- Build a tutor profile about you to be displayed on the platform, including a profile picture
- To facilitate payments to be paid to you for successful, completed lessons
Obligations on Expert Tutor
Our Website has been created to promote and allow access to our software application and facilitate the introduction between students and tutors. This includes allowing parents, guardians and students to view tutor profiles before deciding to book a lesson.
Our Website and app also offers a lesson booking service for Parents and Guardians to engage tutor services. This includes a payment facility, using card payment processor Stripe (www.stripe.com) allowing parents and guardians to pay the lesson fee up front when booking.
Expert Tutor take their obligation to safeguard child privacy and safety very seriously. Expert Tutor perform due diligence checks on the legitimacy and ability of any Tutors who offer services within our platform. Parents and Guardians will be asked, in a clear and transparent manner, to demonstrate their explicit consent to allow the Company to process personal data for any Students under the age of 18. Expert Tutor will not facilitate any lessons for any child student, without a clear indication of parental consent.
Expert Tutor warrants and represents that it will process personal data solely for the purposes of facilitating tutoring services. Only the minimum amount of data required to achieve the purpose will be collected, and retained only for the time it is required, unless you instruct us to erase it earlier.
Security of your data
Expert Tutor take their obligation to protect data very seriously. We appreciate the trust you place in us when you enroll in our services and we have incorporated technical and organisational security measures to protect the data. Access to the Expert Tutor app is only available through authentication of one’s username and password, which should remain confidential to the user and never shared with others. Our video conferencing functionality was developed by Expert Tutor and held entirely in house, eliminating the need to rely on third party video conferencing services. If a discover that a password breach has occurred, you should notify Expert Tutor without undue delay by contacting support@experttutor.com.
Your information is protected on a server that is behind a firewall; while utilising security software so as to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information we have accumulated. In the unlikely event of a security breach of a user’s personal information, we shall notify all users whose information may have been compromised to both the data subject, in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and in our capacity as data controller. All Expert Tutor personnel are bound by a duty of confidentiality within their employment terms and only strictly necessary personnel will have access to personal data.
Obligations of the Tutor
All Tutors are to be bound by these terms herein, the Company privacy notice and the specialised terms enclosed within the Tutor Terms and Conditions, held under separate cover.
All Tutors warrant that:
- They are 18 years old or over.
- They have the necessary qualifications, experience and licences, where applicable, to provide tuition services in the subject they offer lessons in.
- Any profile created on Expert Tutor platform is accurate, current and never misleading.
- They have the right to work in the UK on a self-employed or freelancer basis.
Tutors are obliged, under these terms, to declare any criminal convictions to the Company before commencing tuition services with us, and inform the Company as soon as reasonably practicable upon receiving a warning or actual conviction when working with Expert Tutor.
Tutors take full responsibility for the information and content provided to students in the course of providing lessons and agree to fully indemnify the Company of any claim arising as a result of that content.
Tutors must only contact students and parents/guardians through the messaging function within the Expert Tutor platform. All other means are prohibited and will be considered a breach of the terms and the Tutor terms and conditions.
Tutors must not complete any student coursework, exam work or any assessment material on the students behalf.
Tutors must not accept direct payments from any students or parents/guardians. Tutors will be paid for a single lesson at a time, as detailed within the Tutors Terms and Conditions.
Tutors who receive frequent negative feedback from students or parents/guardians will be investigated by Expert Tutor. We may withhold lesson fee payments to Tutors if we suspect poor performance or conduct, during the period of investigation. You agree to cooperate fully with Expert Tutor in resolving any actual or potential dispute with a student or parent/guardian.
Student and Parent/Guardian
If the Student is under the age of 18, then a parent or guardian must sign the student up for lessons - students should not do this directly if underage. The Parent and Guardian must consent to Expert Tutor collecting the child’s personal data and the sharing of the data with the Tutor so that lessons may be arranged. Expert Tutor are not responsible for any consent dispute any parent/guardian may have with the Tutor directly.
The Student must not publish any defamatory or abusive comments about the Tutor on either the Expert Tutor platform, or any other place.
To confirm a lesson booking with a Tutor, Parents and Guardians or Students over 18 are required to input payment card details into our platform through our payment integration with Stripe. Stripe Payment Services (UK) Ltd are a PCC compliant card payment processor who keep your payment details confidential. The Parent/Guardian authorises Expert Tutor to instruct Stripe to charge their credit/debit card 24 hours after the scheduled end time of each lesson for the entire Lesson Fee for the relevant Booking.
When a lesson booking is confirmed, a Parent/Guardian or Student (18+) enters directly into a contract with the Tutor for the provision of lessons and Expert Tutor accepts no liability in relation to the Tutor’s provision of lessons. Students must give, or Parents/Guardians on their behalf, the necessary information to Expert Tutor when booking a lesson. This is limited to Students name, and a booking email address.
Students must not use the Website or App for illegal, unlawful or prohibited purposes. This includes sending or posting junk e-mail or spam, publishing misleading, defamatory, indecent, obscene or advertising material, or sending viruses and worms.
Students must not impersonate any other person or entity or to use a false name or a name that they have no authority to use.
Students must not post material to the Website or App in which the copyright or intellectual property is or may be the property of another person or body.The code, API, brand and intellectual property of Expert Tutor and cannot be reused without the Company’s consent. All copyright, trade marks, and other intellectual property rights in and relating to the Expert Tutor are owned by the Company. It is prohibited to copy, distribute, show in public or create any derivative work from the Website or App without the consent of Expert Tutor.
Provisions
Privacy Policy (which can be found on the website home page). Expert Tutor’s Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms and Conditions, and by agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you also give your consent to the way we may handle your personal data as detailed in that policy.
Expert Tutor may restrict access to the Expert Tutor Website for any period and if necessary permanently at the sole discretion of the Company. Students or Parents/Guardians shall not be entitled to any reimbursement of any fees or expenses incurred as a result of such restriction or for any inconvenience caused.
Severability: In the event that any term of these Terms and Conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable by judicial decree or decision, the remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall remain valid and enforceable.
Scots Law and jurisdiction of the Courts of Scotland apply to these terms of use.
